Stage curtains are specialized stage fixtures installed on proscenium stages within theaters, cinemas, auditoriums, and similar venues; they serve the dual purpose of providing decorative aesthetics and optimizing performance effects. The primary types include the Grand Curtain, intermediate curtains (Second and Third Curtains), Valances, Side Curtains, Gauze Curtains, Cycloramas, Sound-absorbing Curtains, Cascade Curtains, and Fire Safety Curtains. The Grand Curtain, serving as the stage's primary opening and closing mechanism, utilizes various opening methods - such as bi-parting or lifting - and is equipped with a variable-speed curtain machine to facilitate precise motion control. Fire Safety Curtains are constructed from lightweight steel structures coated with fire-retardant materials; in the event of a fire, they automatically descend to isolate the stage area from the audience, with certain models featuring integrated water-curtain cooling systems. Valances and Side Curtains work in tandem to define the performance area, allowing for the spatial configuration to be adjusted through various rigging methods, while Gauze Curtains leverage their translucent properties to create virtual scenic effects.
